SUMMARY:International Peace Camp 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join Lakenheath Alliance for Peace for the International Peace Camp – a peaceful resistance to nuclear weapons\, militarisation and war. \nHere’s what LAP say about the event: \nAccommodation:  \nCamping – bring your own tent\, sleep in a marquee\, or on the floor of the hall. £5 – £10 a night. \nIn a bed – book into the local Travelodge at Barton Mills\, find a local bnb\, or locate local residents offering a bed for the night. \nCatering:  We will be providing vegan meals with gluten-free options. Donations will be collected at mealtimes. \nTransport: A shuttle bus service will give lifts to and from the nearest stations\, the base\, the viewing area\, and the village hall. Volunteers with their own cars will also provide lifts. \nWorkshops: there will be workshops and training at the maingate during the day\, and in the evenings at the village hall. \nNVDA training: training for nonviolent direct action needs to happen before the camp\, rather than during it\, so that affinity groups can get together and are well prepared in advance. Please contact us if you are interested. \nBanner-making and artwork: We will be collecting and encouraging creative people to get creative again! \nMusic and singing: the more the better! We are considering another choir day… \nWellbeing: a wellbeing space will be available at the base and at the hall. \nActions: being there is a vital action in itself\, and allsorts of other actions are needed too\, big and small\, to raise the profile and get much needed publicity. A means of communicating about the actions you want to take will be provided. Please contact actions@lakenheathallianceforpeace.org.uk \nFund-raising: All this costs money\, and while grant applications are being made\, donations are still needed. Please encourage your peace / justice organisations to donate on the LAP website…. £30  from 60+ LAP alliance organisations would make a big difference! \nSign up here!

SUMMARY:Kernewek Keskesow Cabaret - Helston Old Chapel
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Helston Old Chapel cabaret night of songs and stories from Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp\, sharing tales of peaceful protest in Cornish and English! \nIn September 1981\, a group of women marched from Cardiff to RAF Greenham Common to protest the siting of American cruise missiles on British soil. What began as a ten-day walk became a 19-year occupation that changed the face of peaceful protest forever. Women from across Britain—including many from Cornwall—left their homes\, their jobs\, sometimes their families\, to live in benders and tents through every weather\, facing arrest\, eviction and hostility\, united by the belief that they could change the world. And they did. \nNow\, we invite you to an evening celebrating the extraordinary contribution Cornish women made to this iconic movement. \nJoin us for a cabaret night filled with songs and stories from Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp. Through verbatim theatre and music\, performers including Rebecca Mordan (Artistic Director of Scary Little Girls and co-founder of the Greenham Women Everywhere archive project) alongside Cornish bards Bec Applebee and Fiona O’Cleirigh will share the tales of the peace women—in both Cornish and English—creating an evening of rousing performances that honours their courage\, creativity and defiance. \nWhether you were there\, you remember watching it on the news\, or you’re discovering this remarkable piece of women’s history for the first time\, this is an evening to honour the women who proved that peaceful\, creative resistance can move the world. \nFind out more and grab your tickets here!
