Quietly and without any public discussion, we are rapidly entering the era of space warfare. The UK, along with others states are rapidly deploying military systems to support and enable warfare on earth as well as in space.
Over the past few months the UK launched the first of a new system of military surveillance satellites from Vandenberg, California, announced the stationing of a new UK-US-Australia ground-based space radar system in Pembrokeshire, and committed to start space launches from the UK despite the explosion of a rocket at a launch site in the Shetlands.
Each autumn, events take place around the globe to highlight and challenge the militarisation of space. Here in the UK events will likely take place at Ministry of Defence in Whitehall, Menwith Hill, RAF Croughton and other locations.
