Lakenheath Alliance for Peace’s next Peace Camp at RAF Lakenheath will be Monday 14th April to Friday 25th April 2025.

Monday 14th April

3pm – Set up of 24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent

Opening Ceremony at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

Tuesday 15th April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

Leafleting in Lakenheath village.

Wednesday 16th April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

Political and Protest Choirs and Singers Day – Choirs, singers and folk bands will gather at the base to sing out nukes, militarisation and climate chaos. More information here.

Thursday 17th April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

Greenham Women’s Day – Women who protested at Greenham in the 1980’s are now protesting at the return of US nukes to Lakenheath.

We will leaflet in local villages and then decorate the fence..with whatever women would like to bring and we will be making and bringing cut out women holding hands to put onto fence as far as we can! Embrace the Base!!!  We will be holding a space to talk to each other and share thoughts, ideas and feelings etc.

Friday 18th April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

Climate Day – Morning workshop: ‘Peace and Climate Change’. How the military need for and control of fossil fuels have shaped our world. How will climate change increase the risk of conflict over resources such as food and water. What can we do about it – learn, discuss and plan for our future.

In the afternoon we will be at the main gate of the base.

Saturday 19th April

Sunday 20th April – Easter Sunday

Monday 21st April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

War Crimes and Genocide Day – Solidarity groups will gather to protest at Lakenheath involvement in war crimes being committed by US/UK/NATO forces and its military support enabling Israel to commit Genocide in Gaza.

10am–12noon – briefing and practice for those participating in the ‘Death March’ at the campsite.

2pm–3.30pm – Death March – including baby shrouds ceremony along the fence leading to Lakenheath Main Gate. Ending with the hanging of the baby clothes on the fence and any placards and banners.

3.30–4.30pm – speeches at the Main Gate. Angie Zelter; Dr Mariam Karimi; Carolyn Gelenter; Mujahid Islam; Mike Layward

4:30–5pm – Junayd – poetry performance at the Main Gate.

5–5.15pm – Camilla – Special Relationship with Genocide – song

Tuesday 22nd April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

Democracy Day – MPs, Councillors, and other political representatives will speak out against nuclear weapons, giving interviews and showing their solidarity with LAP.

Wednesday 23rd April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

Faith Day – Leaders of different faith communities will come together to vigil, pray and conduct a multi-faith service at the gates of Lakenheath

Thursday 24th April

24/7 Vigil, Welcome Tent at the main gate of USAF Lakenheath.

International Peace Conference – Local, national and international speakers and participants will challenge US militarism and the drive to never ending wars, the build up of US controlled NATO bases in Europe and how these impact on environment, and people. Further details here.

Friday 25th April

Saturday 26th April

Blockade USAF Lakenheath from 12 noon.
