The International Day of Peace, sometimes known as World Peace Day, is on September 21st.

The theme for 2024 is Cultivating a Culture of Peace. Across the UK, and the world, events are taking place on and around the day. Here are some we’ve found that you might be interested in – there are many, many many many many more events right across the UK.

Monday 9th to Saturday 14th September: Peace Pilgrimage from Malvern to Telford

The SDSC arms fair takes place in Telford in November, having been driven out of Malvern by a successful protest movement. Campaigners plan to link the old movement with the new location of the Arms Fair. The pilgrimage will act as both a witness to peace in itself and an awareness raising initiative ahead of the fair in November. Other arms manufacturing locations en route may be visited. Saturday 14 September 2024: One day Conference: Alternatives to War in a Time of Global Crisis

In this dangerous time for world peace, Movement for the Abolition of War have organised a day conference in London for Saturday 14th September. Running from 10:30 am – 4:00 pm, the conference will include talks from  Paul Rogers, John Gittings, Diana Francis, Jonathan Cohen, Tanya Hubbard, Gwen Burnyeat and Andrei Gomez-Suarez. Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd September 2024: #NoWar24: three day global conference, online

Ending all wars means closing all military bases. The United States of America, unlike any other nation, maintains over 900 bases in more than 90 countries and territories. Learn about the impact of the USA’s military base empire and how to resist it. 

Saturday 21 September 2024 – Saturday 28 September 2024: Global Week Of Action For Peace And Climate Justice

The first annual Week of Action for Peace and Climate Justice will address the links between war, militarism and climate injustice, promoting grassroots action and policy making for peace and climate justice.
