We are excited to launch Greenham Women Say What?, a new way of sharing our archive of Greenham Women’s voices.

The volunteers who interview Greenham Women are regularly struck by how prescient the women’s words are and the relevance of their experiences to events unfolding today. So, on occasion, we’ll be reacting to current issues by directing you to women talking about related themes in the archive. We plan to link to a range of interviews for each topic, ensuring that the plurality, diversity, disagreement and dynamism that was such a part of Greenham is reflected each time.

In line with some of our recent posts, we start Greenham Women Say What? with links to women talking about protest, the treatment of Greenham Women by the state, and changes in the law:

  • Alison Napier talks about her arrests and the violence of the police
  • Lyn Barlow recalls her time in various prisons
  • Carolyn Barnes remembers her time in prison and treatment by the police
  • Elizabeth Woodcraft and Jane Hickman talk about the changes in law and the right of free assembly as well as the impact Greenham Women had on the law

We hope this gives you plenty to discuss, and remember, you can search our archive for other women talking about these topics (and for anything else) by using the key word search!
