Rebecca first went to Greenham at the age of 5 with her mother, Marie Knowles, and spent a lot of time at Orange gate. She remembers chatting with women on the verge of the road with their signs, and passers-by saluting or shouting abuse. She recalls feeling safe, surrounded by strong women who all supported each other. Rebecca talks about her mum’s journey and how she became more politically aware, including Marie doing night-watch and getting arrested for sitting down in front of Margaret Thatcher’s car. She also recalls ending up in the paper making a pretend bunker!
Rebecca was interviewed by Kate Kerrow in the Summer of 2020.
