As a teenager in Ireland Sara joined ‘Friends of the Earth’ and went to her first anti-nuclear protest at Carnsore Point, Co. Wexford. She grew up hearing daily reports of ‘The Troubles’ in Northern Ireland which put anti-militarism into her political thinking.
In 1989 she moved to London and started going to Greenham and other peace camps, valuing the company of like-minded people. She stayed at different gates in her van so she could move easily and get back to London for work. She talks about being autistic and a lesbian mother and all the creativity at Greenham.
Sara was interviewed by Jill ‘Ray’ Raymond in April 2021.
She was photographed by Wendy Carrig.
